Tapestry Series – "Pattern of space-time"

In Indigenous Australian culture, there is no separate word for time and space. Instead, they are interwoven into a single fabric—a multidimensional web through which one accesses the symbolic, dreamlike realm known as Dreamtime, the ancestral time of creation. According to these traditions, dreams shaped the patterns of life. Creation was carried out by cultural heroes who journeyed across the formless land, shaping sacred sites and places of power and meaning as they moved.

Similarly, other ancient Indigenous worldviews perceive time and space not as linear or separate, but as fluid and cyclical—like a pond through which one can swim in all directions. These perspectives are rooted in natural rhythms, generational connections, and repeating patterns. They emphasize interconnectedness and harmony with nature, standing in contrast to the Western notions of progress and quantifiable units of time and space.

I immerse myself in landscapes—meadows, forests, river basins, wetlands, mountains—and from this deep connection, I create rugs and tapestries. These are not merely functional or decorative objects; they are carriers of story. Through them, I aim to express the spirit, atmosphere, and interwoven life of each environment—transformed through dreams and the subconscious into mythical beings and subtle, visceral sensations.

I am developing a visual language drawn from ancient symbols, remnants of the past, archetypes, and the unique flora and fauna of Slovenia—its healing plants, power animals, and places of power.
